Thanks to a trust established by John and Ethel Noble, residents of nearby Sharon, Noble Horizons bought its original 64 acres and built the first 20 cottages in 1972 and Riga Residence in 1973. Since then, Noble Horizons has evolved into a village within a village. The Whitridge Nursing Wing opened in 1975, the Cobble and the Chapel in 1983, and Wagner Terrace in 1994. Cottages now number 50 and the campus has grown to 110 acres.

Since its founding, Noble Horizons has been on the leading edge of the latest and best ideas in elder care, setting a standard that few other retirement communities can match. Residents may enter Noble Horizons at any one of four separate levels of living, each designed to meet their physical and social needs. Our rehabilitation department offers short term residential and outpatient rehab services to the wider community as well.

The charming, historic New England town of Salisbury, surrounded by hills, valleys, woods, farms and streams, is Noble's picture postcard-perfect setting. Salisbury, with a population of just over 4,000, and the small towns within a ten-mile radius offer an abundance of services and shopping opportunities.

Tanglewood, Music Mountain, Yale at Norfolk, the Berkshire Theater Festival, and Tri-Arts summer theater are all within easy driving distance. The independent boarding schools in and around Salisbury and the regional high school welcome residents to cultural and sports events. Students from these schools are among Noble's corps of volunteers and participate in a variety of programs here. Local arts, educational, environmental, historical and social service organizations cater to a variety of interests.

Sharon Hospital, a modern, acute-care hospital, is just eight miles away. The Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service, based a half-mile from Noble's front door, is staffed by highly trained emergency medical technicians with access to state of the art equipment. The Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association, founded in 1904, is the preferred provider of excellent home care services to our cottage residents.
