Noble Horizons Auxiliary

The Noble Horizons Auxiliary, founded in 1975, sponsors many events throughout the year. Its simply stated mission is "to enrich the lives of Noble Horizons residents."

In addition to operating the Country Store, the auxiliary sponsors the popular Festival of Trees and Country Fair at Christmastime. Donations and proceeds from events throughout the year enable the auxiliary to make substantial gifts for the benefit of the entire Noble Community.

The auxiliary always welcomes new members. Anyone who would like more information about the work of the auxiliary or who is interested in becoming a member may call Joanne Moore, Director of Volunteers, at 860-435-9851, ext. 154 or at jmoore@churchhomes.org

Noble Horizons Volunteers

Noble Horizons volunteers, a talented group of people that has included students as young as fourth grade all the way up to our oldest residents, are active participants in the life of Noble.

Volunteering

Volunteers staff the Country Store, read aloud or write letters for residents, help residents send and receive e-mail from children and grandchildren on the library computers, serve as hostesses at community events, sew and mend, staff the library, assist with chapel services and provide on-campus transport for residents. For information about becoming a Noble volunteer contact Director of Volunteers Joanne Moore at 860-435-9851, ext. 154 or at jmoore@churchhomes.org

GIVING

Noble exists and thrives today because of the generosity and foresight of generations of donors. In addition to the Noble Trust's founding gift, the chapel and a large portion of the Whitridge Wing were built through the generosity of yet another local resident. Individual donors built twenty-nine of Noble's forty-nine cottages. Countless smaller gifts have enabled Noble Horizons to continue to provide its residents with the facilities and services they need to enjoy comfortable, secure, and fulfilling lives in a beautiful setting and a life-affirming atmosphere.

A more recent gift, a large bequest from the late Caroline Wall, provides an array of services geared specifically to the needs of cottage residents: transportation, nutrition, exercise and health monitoring. All of these services are designed to help cottagers maintain their independence.

Noble Horizons has amassed an extensive collection of original art, including paintings and sculpture, all of which was donated or bought for Noble by friends and family of Noble residents. The entire collection is on display in Noble's hallways, dining and sitting rooms and other common areas and outdoors for the enjoyment of Noble's residents, staff and guests.

New generations of contributors will help ensure Noble's future through bequests, charitable gift annuities, life insurance, and gifts of stock, real estate and gifts in kind.

To discuss in confidence your interest in making a charitable gift to Noble Horizons, please call Eileen Mulligan, Administrator, at 860-435-9851, ext. 120, or at emulligan@churchhomes.org

The Village Fund

Donations to the Village Fund improve facilities and initiate programs that are not provided for in the operating budget.

Caroline L. Wall Fund

The income from this fund established under the will of the late Caroline L. Wall, shall be used to pay for the personal in-home nursing care and other home health care services for those residents of the cottages at Noble Horizons whose financial condition makes them unable to pay for such care.

The Dr. John R. Elliott Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund

Established by the late Dorothea Elliott in memory of her husband, the fund provides scholarship support to Noble employees or their children who are attending college nursing programs. Dr. and Mrs. Elliott were Noble residents.

The Supplementary Fund

The Supplementary Fund covers one-time or occasional necessary expenses, such as eyeglasses, dental appliances, hearing aids or clothing, for residents with very limited financial resources.

The Pet Therapy Fund

This fund provides food, supplies and veterinary care for Noble's resident dog, cats, birds and fish.

The Employee Scholarship Fund

The fund is a source of tuition reimbursement for staff nursing college degrees.

The Chaplaincy Endowment Fund

This fund supports an ongoing chaplaincy program. Income from the fund provided new lighting and an improved sound system in Noble's St. Luke's Chapel.
