"Fervent Evolutionaries" Establish a World-Wide Learning Community

On Sunday, February 26, at 2:00pm, former Head of the Hotchkiss School, Skip Mattoon, will speak at Noble Horizons about his role as a founder and co-head of the ground-breaking new school, Avenues: The World School. Calling themselves "fervent evolutionaries" in a July New York Times article, Mattoon, together with educational entrepreneur Chris Whittle; Benno Schmidt, former president of Yale University, and several other educators from the world's most prestigious schools and universities, are pioneering a bold educational initiative to create an international school with 20 or more campuses across the globe. As Fortune magazine reported in May 2011, "Avenues: The World School aims for nothing less than to reinvent private education."

Mr. Mattoon will discuss Avenues: The World School, which opens in New York City in September 2012, and where students aged 3-18 will learn bilingually and travel to study on Avenues campuses in such cities such as Mumbai, Shanghai, and London. Seating is limited; registration for Mr. Mattoon's program is at www.noblehorizons.org or at 860-435-9851, ext. 190. Noble Horizons, founded in 1972, is a not-for-profit, continuum of care retirement village situated on 110 open and wooded acres in Salisbury, Connecticut.
