REHABILITATION
Short-term Residential Rehabilitation
Salisbury-area residents who are recuperating from surgery, an injury or illness find that one of the fifteen rehab rooms in Wagner Terrace is the perfect stop between hospital and home. The goal is to make a two- to eight-week rehab stay at Noble as comfortable and pleasant as a stay at a fine hotel. All rehab rooms have a private half bath and are attractively furnished with a lift-recliner chair, cable television, a VCR and a DVD, a telephone, and internet access, plus special order cuisine, and around the clock nursing care.
Key to recovery are the physical, occupational, and speech therapies that help our short-term rehab residents regain strength, balance and flexibility so that they can resume their regular routines at home. Treatment, including ultrasound and electrotherapy, often transitions directly to Noble's well-equipped Fitness Center for a personally designed maintenance program.
Patients opting for outpatient therapy are treated in a brand new, state of the art rehab suite, eXtend, in a private wing of the Cobble. Noble's highly experienced therapists specialize in working with patients age 50 and older with a comprehensive, thorough approach that treats the patient not as a symptom but as a whole person. Additionally, patients are treated by the same therapist throughout the recuperation period and typically transition to working with a personal trainer, who is also an R.N., in Noble's well-equipped fitness center.
Noble's physical, occupational and speech therapists work with a variety of diagnoses in close consultation with the patient's personal physician. Patients anticipating elective surgery are encouraged to begin pre-operative therapy that can achieve easier and quicker post-op recuperation. In addition to more traditional forms of therapy, Noble's staff provides advanced clinical practice (ACP) techniques that can effectively treat such conditions as incontinence, chronic pain, weakness, decreased sensation and other symptoms related to neuropathy, diabetes or fibromyalgia. Their goal is for each of their patients to gain and maintain the highest possible level of functioning
The therapy staff makes every effort to accommodate outpatient schedules. In addition to regular 7 to 7 weekday hours, appointments can be made for Saturday mornings or other times as needed.
Cottage and Cobble residents for whom physical, occupational or speech therapy has been prescribed are also treated in the new therapy suite, eXtend.
